Im Back!

Ok, so I know I haven't updated in A REALLY LONG TIME, but I'm back! The OCD in me is very upset that I haven't kept up, and will have to go back and fill in the last 9 months...but all in due time! I started this blog to help keep friends and family up to beat on what's going on with us; but, also for me to be able to go back and scrapbook these early years of the kids... when i have more time on my hands! LOL So for now, I'm just going to start from here...and jump in!

I guess you need to know that Garrett is almost 32 months (2 1/2 years old), and Abbie just turned 19 months (1 1/2 years old). They keep me VERY BUSY...there's never a dull moment at our house! :) You should also know that Garrett was in Mother's Day Out this past school year...that's when I got side-tracked and stopped posting his first week of school. Anyway...he started a month before turning two, and all the other kids were potty-training, so I started that dreaded feat. So he's been in pull ups for over 6 months now! I HATE POTTY TRAINING!!! I'm ready for it to finally "click!" We have good days and we have bad days...I will say he's just about got number two down, so we're just working on keeping the big boy underwear DRY! I know, that's backwards from how most people potty train, but I'd much rather throw the tee tee underwear in the wash, than clean poop out of them! What can I say..we're backwards! :) My goal is by the end of the summer to be fully potty trained! Start the new school year in big boy underwear. So since we've been hitting the potty training hard now that it's summer, Abbie has decided she's interested in the potty too! I always joked that I'd just potty train them together, since boys take longer and girls pick it up faster...but it might actually be true! She just wants to do what Garrett is doing...has no concept whatsoever about actually tee teeing in the potty. She has gone once or twice, but every time she sits on the potty she thinks she's going..which is not the case! LOL We now have TWO potties out and sometimes they are both in use...

Two for the price of one!

Now for the last two weeks they've both been in swimming lessons out in Silsbee with Mrs. Sherry McKee. I signed Garrett up for it, and figured Abbie was still too little to do it. But, when we went the first day, Sherry told me she was old enough. Since we will be around several pools this summer, I wanted her to learn some water safety, so on day two...Abbie joined the class! Oh, she kicked and screamed and carried on, but I made her stay and didn't pull her out. I got in the pool on the Wednesday and Thursday of last week to work with her, but this week she was left in the class without mommy. She finally learned to wait her turn and do what the teacher asks her yesterday...the day before lessons ended. :( Oh well, she'll be back in the class again next summer!

Their class was Monday - Thursday from 11am-12pm the last two weeks. Well, Abbie worse herself out kicking and screaming and crying for an hour, so she's been taking GREAT naps after lunch every day. Garrett has pretty much cut his nap out since school ended. If he gets a nap, he wont go to bed before midnight! I have been putting down his nap mat from school, and putting Cars on, and he has "rest time" when Abbie's napping! But swimming lessons have worn him out! He's been taking some good naps! Here's a picture of him, "not tired at all!"

Last week, I went into the Dollar Tree for one thing, and came out with that item, bubbles for Abbie, and this foam sword that Garrett picked out! I never do something like that, but we had run in and out of several stores on errands that morning, and they both were pretty good for me, so I figured we could get prizes! I didn't realize until we were on the way home that he thought it was a gun! He kept saying something about a gun, and I kept telling him that it was a sword, but he insisted on it being a gun. I felt kind of bad, and thought maybe to go back and get another one to show him what swords were for and what they do..you know a teachable moment to introduce new vocabulary words! But then I figured out what he kept saying! He got a gun like daddy and was "gettin' those kitty cats!" LOL Please don't go turn us in for trying to decrease the kitty cat population in our neighborhood! I was fine until the peed on both strollers in the garage, Michael's golf bag, grass-cutting tennis shoes, and anything else canvas in the garage! The last straw was when they somehow peed somewhere up under both vehicles, and the smell got into the cars for a few days...that's when we started taking matters into our own hands....but I digress!

This is Garrett "gettin' those kitty cats" with his gun! I guess he's seen Michael hold the gun up and aimming, and that's what I think he's doing! :) This day, in this moment, was when I realized I needed to start blogging again! Too many funny things I need to write about and remember! Too cute! Besides, they both do so much every day that drives me nuts, I need to remember and focus on these good times! LOL

Abbie has entered her terrible two stage about 6 months early! She is why I have to dye my gray hair every few weeks! She is the most stubborn, hard-headed, head-strong, bull-of-a-kid I've ever met! She's not the cute little girly-girl I always dreamed of at all! Don't get me wrong, I love her to death...but sometimes...ugh that girl makes me want to pull all my hair out! At least then I wont have to waste my time and money to dye it all the time! I have even purchased and have started reading, The Strong-Willed Child, by Dr. James Dobson! She has an attitude on her too ALREADY! I know, you're all thinking, "she gets it honest!" And I will admit, yes, she does get it honest from both Michael and I, but I'm pretty sure most of it is from Michael...there's no way I was THIS hard-headed! :)

This is her new face she's been making lately...Michael HATES it! I just have to laugh, because it is SUCH a HONEY face!!! LOL

Well, I guess that's it for now. I'm so relieved to finally make my first new post. I'm gonna try to do better at keeping up with it from here on out, but I'm not promising anything! :)
Today was the kids last day of swim lessons. The show-off day to see what they've been learning for the last two weeks. I didn't have any errands to run this morning, so I let the kids (and myself) sleep in. I got up at 8:30, and Garrett soon followed. We went through our normal morning routine, and then got ready for swim lessons. Abbie kept taking off her swim cover up...she must have taken it off four or five times before I just stopped putting it back on. I usually leave around 10:30 to make it there in time to get them out the car and sprayed down with sunscreen before class starts. I was actually a little ahead of schedule this morning...filled the sippy cups for after class, packed towels, clothes and diapers to change into; and loaded the diaper bag in case we went somewhere after. I loaded all three bags into the car plus their life jackets we needed to bring today. All I needed was my purse, keys, and to load the kids in the car. Got the purse, kids dressed with shoes on (Abbie minus her cover up), BUT NO KEYS TO BE FOUND!!! I spent almost fifteen minutes tearing my house apart searching high and low for the keys that I JUST KNEW Abbie had hidden from me!!!! Tried to call Michael to ask him if he saw my keys, but no answer. So I texted him...no reply. Time kept ticking and I went into panic mode...pretty much freaking out that we were going to miss our last day of swimming lessons! I called Brittany to tell her the keys were gone, and for her to tell the teacher what happened. She started suggesting places to look..all places Id already looked. She said to look in the car again. So I went back outside and opened the back door where Abbie sits...and there they were. On the seat under her car seat. Where I left them. :( UGH!!!! So I grabbed the kids, threw them into their seats, and drove like a bat outta hell to get to the swim show off day! Surprise, surprise...there's no gas in my car! Im on E, and the light is on, and I have to get to north Silsbee! I keep on in my quest to get the kids there as soon as possible...I make it to Silsbee..it's 10:55...and I get STUCK BEHIND A FUNERAL!!! REALLY?!?!?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?! I made it there at 11:05, and they were just getting started. We barely missed anything. I jumped out and sprayed them down...and ran them over to sit with their class. Well Garrett sat with his class. Abbie wasn't having any part of it today. So she sat with me while they all took turns rescuing a lifeguard with a pole, a swim belt, and a beach towel. Then she had to go participate with the class, and I had to video for Michael since he wasn't able to get off work to come see them today. I can tell you that Garrett did great! I was so proud of him! Abbie, on the other hand, cried pretty much the whole time! But I got it all on video for Michael to see! LOL

After it was over and they both got certificates, I was drying Abbie off, and started to change her when I realized she had pooped all in her swim diaper! (MY BIG FEAR for the last two weeks...that one of them would do this!) Not sure at what point she did that, but it makes sense why she cried the whole time! The diaper was NASTY!!! I had to hose her off, and then use wipes to get it all! Sorry to be so graphic, but that was the cherry on top of my horrendous morning!

Once she was cleaned up, dry, and changed, I got Garrett dressed; and we headed to McDonald's to celebrate the last swim day! :)

Decorating for Fall...

I usually don't decorate for fall this early, but I was ready for a change! Plus, all the fall decorations are out in the stores right now, and I needed to know what I have, in case I saw something that was too cute to pass up! I LOVE the fall decorations! So pretty! Most of my stuff is nice, NON KID-FRIENDLY stuff. Now, I have to buy kid-friendly decorations. So I've been on a mission to buy some cute stuffed pumpkins for the kids to play with. All I've found so far are the little plastic candy bowls (6 for $1) in the dollar aisle at Target. And I had to rip the handles off because they were a choking hazard! Still looking...

One of "mommy's pu-kins" that we cant play with, but still like to touch!

Another one of "mommy's pu-kins"

Out of reach...

Out of reach.

Garrett wanted to help Mommy decorate while Abbie was sleeping. BEFORE kids, I used to place these leaves all over the living room. On the coffee table, side table, sofa table, entertainment center...but NOW...they stay in the bag, and he gets to play with them only when Abbie is sleeping. He had a good time!

Let me know if you see any cute plush pumpkins that the kids can play with...Thanks!

Garrett's first "official" haircut!

So...Garrett ran out of his Singular allergy medicine, and since we've been healthy for a few months (thank you Jesus), he has to be seen by Dr. Sales for her to refill his allergy meds. So, thankfully, Brittany agreed to watch Abbie Grace, while I ran Garrett to see Dr. Sales for a quick visit. Saw the doctor. Got the meds. On the way home, I think...Garrett really needs a haircut, and we've just not taken the time to do it at bath time at night. So, on a whim, I brought him to Comedy Cuts in Beaumont. We walked right in, signed in, and then the lady called us back. We were the only ones in there at this time. By the way, the lady who cut his hair was on her blue tooth from the moment we walked in the door! She picked him up, and put him in the rocket ship, put the drape around him, and just started cutting!!! LOL He didn't know what hit him! She used the clippers on the back and sides, which I would not let Michael use yet. I was getting a little worried, but he seemed to be doing much better with this lady than with Michael and I, so I didn't say anything. She finally got off the phone just in time to trim his bangs. That's the part he doesn't like. I don't know if it's the scissors coming at him, or all the little hairs that fall and tickle his nose that he doesn't like, but the bangs are always the hardest to cut. Well, she got them, alright. As soon as she finished, she was back on the blue tooth. I went to pay, and told Garrett he could go play in the play land. I let him play for a few minutes, and then it was time to go. While he was playing, 3 sets of parents and kids walked in, so I was glad we went when we did. Because it was on a whim, I didn't have my camera with me. I got a few pics on my phone, but cant get them on here. :( I did take some pictures when I got home, though. When I left, I liked the haircut. (By the way, he pooped in his diaper in the play land, so we had to go before he stunk up the place!) When I got home, and took these pictures, I'm not so sure about the bangs!

Kinda reminds me of the Dumb & Dumber bowl cut!!! LOL

Side view

Oh well! It's only hair! It'll grow back in a week, I'm sure! I think he looks a little like his cousin Jack in this picture.

Yep! I'm still bald!

Wrestling in the bed!

They like to be in the same bed together to play. I rarely do this with them, because it gets out of hand FAST, but today they played nice & I got some cute pictures.
